Today I am starting a very dear project, working with AVE, an NGO meant to change the educational system in Romania. Why change? For a 1,000 reasons among which:
- world wide, traditional education systems are challenged and more and more people agree that what we teach our children are relics of the industrial revolution not tools for the future. From altschool to Mindvalley - that changes education through meditation, art of presence, self-awareness, creative visualisation and other mind tools (read it in the Guardian), to Khan Academy, education is changing.
- despite the fact that Romanian children get a lot of medals in international contests in maths, IT and sciences, a growing portion of Romanian children are nearly illiterate. A 2012 PISA study showed that 40% of 15-year-olds are functional an-alphabets. And the well fare of a country is given by its masses, not by its peaks, unfortunately.
- there is no coherent Governmental or private sector effort to address poor children that do not go or abandon school. Corporations need to realize that they will not have a workforce in 10-20 years if they do not start investing now in their future employees.
So, on this background comes AVE Romania. If you are interested or like to volunteer - stay tuned. For now, we start with good old branding.
